Overview
Priority: High
This extension enables exploring of community skills on the explore page. As part of building this extension, we should also make changes to the "mysocialprofile" extension.
Community Explorer
This extension is a combination of functionality provided in:
- http://mike2.openmethodology.org/explore/ "My Social Profile"
But it does not require the user to be logged in
There will be 7 tabs:
- Ability to lookup a user through the "people finder" - Tag cloud of skills
- Chart showing overall IM skills in a pie chart
- Tag cloud of skills
- Tag cloud of industries
- Tag cloud of vendors
- Tag cloud of roles
- Report view
- There should be link at the bottom to encourage users to update their social profile
- There should be link at the bottom to encourage users to update skills of others
- http://mike2.openmethodology.org/wiki/Special:UpdateProfile?section=community_expertise
My Social Profile
My Social Profile on the explorer page already exists:
- Only should be shown when users are logged in
- A link should be shown to encourage users to login to see this functionality
- The "people finder" should be removed as it will be in the community explorer
- There should be link at the bottom to encourage users to update their social profile
- There should be link at the bottom to encourage users to update skills of others
- http://mike2.openmethodology.org/wiki/Special:UpdateProfile?section=community_expertise
Design Decisions
Should we show an activity list in the community tab:
- An activity list of whenever a user updates their own skills profile (e.g. Sean updated his skills) whenever skills are updated
- An activity list of whenever a user updates the skills profile of anither (e.g. Sean updated Andi's skills) whenever skills are updated
